Dana Barry’s life is a mess, until she hears The Shopping Channel is auditioning new hosts. She dives right in and is stunned when she lands the job. Her keen eye for detail, knack for knowing what makes people tick and sheer bravado make her perfect for the role.

Then the star host is found shot to death in her office. Dana can’t help but involve herself in tracking down the killer. Never one to mind her own business, she winds up at the center of every drama. She also knows the prime suspect is innocent–they happened to have been together on the roof for some “alone time” when they heard the gunshot. His record may not be perfect, but she can tell the single father has a heart of gold. He may even be marriage material–something she’d focus on more if only Detective Marks wasn’t so handsome and their chemistry so electric. Dana is so close to having it all if, just this once, she doesn’t screw up. But trouble usually comes easier and is always a lot more fun…

I will start off by saying that the title and the cover did not really match the story. I saw people said that before but its SUPER true!! Do not go into this thinking it will be some cute little love story. There is some romance but its not overly cute and romance is actually more the side story.

I enjoyed the idea of the story a lot. I liked following the main character through her job at the Shopping Channel was really fun. I liked seeing how her mind worked!! I sort of liked the family drama but could have gone without so much of it. Loved the main characters sister though!! Shes great.

I really loved the murder mystery! I think the author did a really good job of making it interesting and suspenseful. There was no way I would have ever guessed the ending!! It was such a twist and I really liked that. I was on my toes the whole time trying to find any clues and ended up solving the mystery along side the characters which was fun.

One thing I didn’t really like… the relationships in this story happened so fast they were just not believable. Like I said, the romance is not the main story but honestly I was disappointed that the romance wasn’t better. I like what happened in the end but throughout the whole story I felt cringy and uncomfortable. Maybe others feel different about that?? I don’t know though.. it made parts of the book hard to read in my opinion.

Overall, the story was fun and the mystery was well done. There were parts that could have been better but I enjoyed the book so I think its definitely worth the read if you think it sounds interesting!!

There ya have it folks!

What do you think? Annoying when a cover doesnt match the story??

Chat with me in the comments 🙂

  1. Ooh, I’m definitely intrigued by the title and synopsis but good to know that the content doesn’t really match up and it’s not about the romance. I do find it annoying when covers/titles don’t match the story especially when it’s touted as a romance but you get something completely different. Sometimes it does work out though but other times it just leads to disappointment!
