Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme that was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. The meme is pretty easy to follow, to participate simply choose a random book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it!
This is my first Goodreads Monday!! I have been wanting to participate in this for a while now but honestly just never got to it. I am excited about this one as I want to have something that is consistent on my blog (like every Monday I post a Goodreads Monday post, etc.) So here it is!! The newest installment on the Comfy Readers blog…… drum roll please…… 🥁
My FIRST book to share is……..
Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh
Odessa is one of Karthia’s master necromancers, catering to the kingdom’s ruling Dead. Whenever a noble dies, it’s Odessa’s job to raise them by retrieving their souls from a dreamy and dangerous shadow world called the Deadlands. But there is a cost to being raised–the Dead must remain shrouded, or risk transforming into zombie-like monsters known as Shades. If even a hint of flesh is exposed, the grotesque transformation will begin.
A dramatic uptick in Shade attacks raises suspicions and fears among Odessa’s necromancer community. Soon a crushing loss of one of their own reveals a disturbing conspiracy: someone is intentionally creating Shades by tearing shrouds from the Dead–and training them to attack. Odessa is faced with a terrifying question: What if her necromancer’s magic is the weapon that brings Karthia to its knees?
Why I Want To Read This:
So first off…. I saw this book cover quite some time ago and I fell in love with it. Literally love at first sight. I didn’t even know what the book was about and you know what? I DIDN’T CARE. I was just like wow this is a pretty book cover and I will read this. Obviously I read the synopsis after and it also peaked my interest!
I think it is a really neat idea for a story. It is a little out of my comfort zone to be honest but I really want to give it a try! I enjoy books with monsters and things like that and this one says it has “zombie like monsters” so I mean that’s a win!
I feel like this story will be quite involved which is why I say it is out of my comfort zone. I really don’t read too many fantasy type books so I may find it confusing or hard to follow but in all reality this book really interests me and I want to jump in with both feet!
Has anyone read this book that could shed some light for me? What did you think? For someone who is new to fantasy, will this be an enjoyable read?? Lets chat in the comments 🙂
