Time for another book review 🙂
On a little side note – I have always enjoyed writing. It was something I did well in at school and never really found boring or tedious like many others did in school. However, I find I am not overly creative which I feel hinders my ability to really write well (at least that is my mindset on it). I have found pleasure in writing book reviews since starting this blog and my IG account ‘thecomfyreader’. It is exciting writing something that people enjoy reading and while it requires some creativity, I find it is the perfect amount for me!! It has really brought me out of my shell I think and I appreciate you all reading my reviews and other posts 🙂
Now to my review on Verity by Colleen Hoover!
I just wanted to add as well that this is my first ever Colleen Hoover book and I was so impressed that I am now on the search for more of her books 🙂
Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.
Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of what really happened the day her daughter died.
Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen’s feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife’s words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.
What. The. Heck. This book was a wild ride like I’ve never experienced. Colleen Hoover wrote a wonderfully eerie story.
Lowen, an author, gets the chance of a lifetime. She gets offered to finish a book series written by a successful author who has been terribly injured and is unable to continue writing. Lowen obviously accepts! Little does Lowen know, the author has many secrets and she will uncover them in the course of her research to finish the books.
I have to say – I was hooked from the first sentence. It was just fucked up thing after fucked up thing. The tension never stopped. There were times I literally put the book down, with my mouth open, shocked by what I just read. I definitely said “omg” a few times. Collen’s writing is amazing.
I really enjoyed the characters, especially Lowen. Jeremy was charming and very likable!! I loved the mystery of Verity. At times I HATED HER and then other time I liked her.
I will say I am “team manuscript.” I won’t say too much more. I just feel I didn’t really trust Verity… something I couldn’t get over even at the end and to me it felt more like the truth!
Overall, such an amazing book! I loved every second of it!!
This is my first 5 star read of the year!!! I can’t stress enough that everyone should read this book if they enjoy thrillers! Such a wild read, really worth it in my opinion 🙂
Have you read this book yet? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!!
