Hey guys 😺
Back at it again with a segment of ‘Spell It’. Honestly this is so basic but I love it. I have been coming across new books and old books I forgot about! Makes me do some searching which I enjoy. I think I may be doing more of these and branching out to make some challenges! Let me know if you have any tips or ideas for a challenge!!
‘Spell It’ is where I pick a word and have to come up with a book title for each of the letters! The challenge is to find titles that start with the same letter! (I try not to use titles with the word ‘the’ since that would be pretty easy). Give it a try for yourself and see what books you come up with 🙂
The ‘Spell It’ word is…… December
D – Divergent by Veronica Roth
E – Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
C – Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
E – Enders Game by Orson Scott Card
M – Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor
B – Becoming by Michelle Obama
E – Evermore by Alyson Noel
R – Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh
To make this a little more fun, I have picked out a couple books from this list to highlight that I either find interesting or caught my eye because of the cover!!
’Tis the season for change and Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) is embracing it, returning from the States to live in the charming village of Letherby and working with her best friend, Suze, in the gift shop of Suze’s stately home. Life is good, especially now that Becky takes time every day for mindfulness—even if that only means listening to a meditation tape while hunting down online bargains.
But Becky still adores the traditions of Christmas: Her parents hosting, carols playing on repeat, her mother pretending she made the Christmas pudding, and the neighbors coming ’round for sherry in their terrible holiday sweaters. Things are looking cheerier than ever, until Becky’s parents announce they’re moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch—unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocados—and ask Becky if she’ll host this year. What could possibly go wrong?
Becky’s sister demands a vegan turkey, her husband insists that he just wants aftershave (again), and little Minnie needs a very specific picnic hamper: Surely Becky can manage all this, as well as the surprise appearance of an old boyfriend–turned–rock star and his pushy new girlfriend, whose motives are far from clear. But as the countdown to Christmas begins and her bighearted plans take an unexpected turn toward disaster, Becky wonders if chaos will ensue, or if she’ll manage to bring comfort and joy to Christmas after all.
Muse of Nightmares
Sarai has lived and breathed nightmares since she was six years old.She believed she knew every horror, and was beyond surprise. She was wrong
In the wake of tragedy, neither Lazlo nor Sarai are who they were before. One a god, the other a ghost, they struggle to grasp the new boundaries of their selves as dark-minded Minya holds them hostage, intent on vengeance against Weep.
Lazlo faces an unthinkable choice–save the woman he loves, or everyone else?–while Sarai feels more helpless than ever. But is she? Sometimes, only the direst need can teach us our own depths, and Sarai, the muse of nightmares, has not yet discovered what she’s capable of.
As humans and godspawn reel in the aftermath of the citadel’s near fall, a new foe shatters their fragile hopes, and the mysteries of the Mesarthim are resurrected: Where did the gods come from, and why? What was done with thousands of children born in the citadel nursery? And most important of all, as forgotten doors are opened and new worlds revealed: Must heroes always slay monsters, or is it possible to save them instead?
Reign of the Fallen
Without the dead, she’d be no one.
Odessa is one of Karthia’s master necromancers, catering to the kingdom’s ruling Dead. Whenever a noble dies, it’s Odessa’s job to raise them by retrieving their soul from a dreamy and dangerous shadow world called the Deadlands. But there is a cost to being raised: the Dead must remain shrouded. If even a hint of flesh is exposed, a grotesque transformation begins, turning the Dead into terrifying, bloodthirsty Shades.
A dramatic uptick in Shade attacks raises suspicions and fears around the kingdom. Soon, a crushing loss of one of her closest companions leaves Odessa shattered, and reveals a disturbing conspiracy in Karthia: Someone is intentionally creating Shades by tearing shrouds from the Dead–and training them to attack. Odessa is forced to contemplate a terrifying question: What if her magic is the weapon that brings the kingdom to its knees?
Fighting alongside her fellow mages–and a powerful girl as enthralling as she is infuriating–Odessa must untangle the gruesome plot to destroy Karthia before the Shades take everything she loves.
That’s it for today!!
Lets chat in the comments 🙂 What are some good holiday books you are reading for December?
